Addictions #1 Books
I am definitely the kind of person who gets addicted very easily.
So naturally, when quilting entered my life, two completely unavoidable addictions followed immediately after: fabric and books.
To be honest, I probably spend just as much time browsing quilting books and fabric collections online as I actually spend sewing.
Today, though, I want to talk about books.
Most of my quilting and sewing books come from Amazon UK.
I promise this is not an advertisement—I simply haven’t found another online bookstore with such a huge variety of quilting titles available in Europe.
Here are a few reasons why I keep buying my books there:
- Variety – You can find an enormous collection of quilting, patchwork, sewing, embroidery, and crafting books.
- Content previews – Since there are no nearby bookstores here carrying quilting books, being able to preview pages online is incredibly helpful before buying.
- Free European shipping – Extremely important when ordering heavy books.
- Diversity – You can order fabrics, tools, and other crafting supplies at the same time.
- Recommendations and reviews – Reading reviews from people who actually used the books is honestly one of the most useful things when choosing quilting books.
I really adore making lists.
There are already thousands of quilting book reviews all over the internet, but I still wanted to write my own thoughts as a complete beginner in the quilting world.
When I first started quilting, I truly wished there were more honest beginner reviews helping new quilters understand which books are genuinely useful and inspiring—and which ones simply end up collecting dust on the shelf.
Some books become lifelong inspiration sources. Others… not so much.
A very talented and sweet blogger named Amy inspired me to buy one particular book after I saw a beautiful quilt she created from it.
And honestly, the moment it arrived, I completely fell in love with it.
Warman’s Vintage Quilts is technically a price guide for vintage quilts, but for quilters it is also an endless source of inspiration.
The book contains countless traditional quilt designs, beautiful vintage color palettes, and incredible historical quilts that immediately make you want to start sewing.
The photography is wonderful, and the accompanying information about each quilt makes the book even more fascinating to browse through.
My next quilting project will definitely be this incredible star quilt featured in the book.
Now I simply need to figure out how to actually make it.
If you love looking through quilt photography, searching for inspiration, or simply admiring traditional quilt designs, I absolutely recommend this book.
Have a beautiful and creative day!
