Roman Squares quilt block is easy, very popular and almost always on the top three quilt blocks for beginners.

If you look at the many variations that has this block, you can actually make many many different quilts just by learning to make one block.

Cutting Instructions for the Roman Squares quilt block

After the nine patch block, I guess the Roman Squares quilt block is the easiest block to cut. Just strips of fabric, connected into squares. Start by making a test block before cutting pieces for the whole quilt. It will make you more confident to continue and make the whole thing.

And always remember FINISHED SIZE means the size it will be in a completed quilt. The measurements given already have the ¼ inch allowance included.

Finished Block Size	Cut 4 rectangles (dark fabrics)	Cut 2 rectangles (medium & light fabrics)
6 inches	1.5 x 3.5 inches	1.5 x 3.5 inches

Block variations

A lot of variations for the Roman squares quilt block, that can easily be made using our video tutorial. Just change your fabric colors, or a slight change on the block layout, and you will have a completely different looking quilt.
