Triangle Hexie quilt, a solid version

I know I haven’t been sharing much on the blog during the past year or two, but I have a feeling my blogging days are far from over. Maybe they are simply evolving into something different.

I started the #trianglehexie quilt almost a year ago and, as always, I was waiting for that final revelation that would help me finish it. And eventually… it came. And now it’s done!

I really don’t want to do this pattern injustice. The quilt top comes together surprisingly fast and the result is incredibly satisfying. If you already enjoy piecing triangles, then this pattern is absolutely worth trying. Emily Dennis really worked her magic here.

Quilt Process

This quilt was really easy to piece and the pattern is very straightforward. The colors worked together so naturally that there was little more to do besides letting them shine.

Machine Quilting

For this quilt I wanted to try something a little different while still using my walking foot. I experimented with several quilting ideas in Illustrator and eventually the design below won.

Quilt Dimensions

The baby quilt measures 39 x 55 inches, which makes it the perfect crib size.

Dates

Quilt started: October 2017
Quilt finished: February 2019

Materials

For this baby quilt I used mostly solid fabrics together with one special print I bought during a trip to Istanbul. All fabrics are 100% cotton and excellent quality.

The binding is a bold black-and-white striped fabric that frames the quilt beautifully.

The backing is a lovely IKEA cotton fabric that feels incredibly soft.

Quilt Pattern

The pattern I used is by Emily Dennis of Quilty Love and it is called Triangle Hexies. It is beginner-friendly, fun to piece and creates such a striking final result.
