Diaspora Quilt – WIP
When Pachy called for pattern testers, I rushed to sign up. I have always loved her design style and intuitively knew this pattern would suit me perfectly. Well… this pattern is absolutely amazing!
Fabrics
For this quilt I wanted once again to work mostly with solids, with the exception of the center fabric. My eyes immediately fell onto a color palette very similar to the one I used while designing my #lifesaverquilt .
All of the fabrics are Kona cotton solids, and I especially wanted to include the Pantone Color of the Year 2019: Living Coral. Thankfully that was not a difficult decision at all, since coral shades already belong to my usual color palette. So Kona Coral was inevitable!
Piecing
The pattern is very easy and straightforward, using half-square triangles to create this striking one-block quilt design.
I wanted this quilt to become a double-bed gift for some very dear friends of mine, so the pattern fit perfectly. The final quilt top measures 84'' x 84''.
And honestly? I managed to piece this huge quilt top in less than three days. Super fast and incredibly satisfying.
Pattern Story
This pattern is dedicated to those who had to leave home while still dreaming of returning one day. It is part of a series inspired by Pachy’s homeland, Venezuela. You can find all of her beautiful patterns in her SHOP .
Pantone Quilt Challenge 2019
My first entry for this year’s Pantone Quilt Challenge is this quilt top: the Diaspora Quilt. It is a gorgeous pattern by Pachy Sarmiento-Bull for PSB Quilts.
I entered this quilt under the Only Quilt Top category and I am really looking forward to finishing it soon.
