Wednesday WIP: Rainy days
I really think I need a proper vacation in order to finally finish some of my quilting projects.
Lately I simply cannot concentrate properly on sewing or quilting because my mind keeps drifting back to my day job and everyday responsibilities.
I constantly find myself thinking about work while trying to sew, which means that progress has been slower than I would like.
So, as you probably guessed… nothing was actually finished this week.
Still, there has been some progress on a few projects currently spread all over my sewing space.
Currently in Progress
Pure Quilt
Fortunately, my Pure Elements quilt is slowly moving forward, and I’m really happy with how vibrant the colors are becoming.
Now I’m facing one of those classic quilting dilemmas: How large should the white border be?
At the moment I’m thinking about adding approximately 10 inches of white border on each side, and using the following fabric as backing.
I’m also considering a bright fuchsia binding, which I think would frame the colors beautifully and add a fun modern contrast.
What do you think?
Dresden Plates Quilt
The Dresden Plates quilt is also progressing slowly, but I’m honestly very pleased with the overall outcome so far.
The fabrics work together beautifully, and I’m becoming more confident sewing Dresden Plate blocks the more I make them.
No Progress This Week
- Hexagon Crib Quilt – I’ll share more details about this project in another post.
- Log Cabin Quilt – only the cutting phase is complete, and honestly I’m still not in the mood to begin sewing it yet.
This Week’s Quilting Stats

PS. I absolutely had to share these photos.
He looks exactly like a tiny puppy curled up inside the blanket.
