WIP Wednesday: The one year project

Dresden Quilt Progress

I am still hand quilting like crazy, trying to finish my Dresden quilt before Christmas. You can probably imagine how determined I am at this point.

Finally basting this quilt felt like a huge milestone, and throughout the process I have learned so much about hand quilting. Every stitch teaches me something new, even though I still feel like a complete beginner at times.

The biggest challenge right now is definitely the weight of the quilt. It weighs a ton and becomes increasingly difficult to handle while quilting. I am also struggling a bit with the Perle Cotton No 8 thread. I am currently using a No. 9 quilting needle, but I honestly wonder if I am doing something wrong.

Still, despite all the sore fingers and tangled threads, I absolutely love how this quilt is coming together.

Currently in Progress

  • Butterfly Quilt — still waiting to be basted.
  • Checkers Quilt — piecing whenever I can find a little spare time.
  • Pinwheel Quilt — currently in the piecing stage.
  • Hexagon English Paper Pieced Quilt — my forever project.

This Week’s Stats

  • Completed Projects: 0
  • New Projects: 0
  • Projects in Progress: 4

Sometimes quilting feels like a marathon instead of a hobby, but I honestly cannot imagine life without it anymore.

Have a beautiful and creative week!
