E-Z Quilt
Our first Five Patch Block! The E-Z Quilt block is a really easy and beautiful block. I couldn't find any representation of the block in an actual quilt, so I made some demos.
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE E-Z QUILT BLOCK
Your color and fabric choices while making the E-Z quilt block are very important to the actual final visual effect of the quilt.
Always remember FINISHED SIZE means the size it will be in a completed quilt. The measurements given already have the ¼ inch allowance included.
*SQ = Square/Squares
*Center cross = darker fabric rectangles
| Finished Block Size | Cut 4 sq (Dark) & 5 sq (Light) | Cut 4 rectangles (darker fabric) | Cut 4 sq (Dark & Light) |
| 5 inches | 1.5 inches | 1.5 x 2.5 inches | 1-7/8 inches |
| 10 inches | 2.5 inches | 2.5 x 4.5 inches | 2-7/8 inches |
| 15 inches | 3.5 inches | 3.5 x 6.5 inches | 3-7/8 inches |
Block Variations
The E-Z Quilt block variations are almost identical, but in our reference book (#REFERENCE: Maggie Malone “5500 Quilt Blocks Designs”), it appears as a different block, because of the center cross.
The Butterfly at the Crossroads quilt block appears in the Farmer's Wife quilt series and there is a post about it here.
