Modern Wall quilt
When we moved into our new house (yes, this was back in 2013!) I wanted to make a quilt especially for our living room. And I wanted something modern.
A pin on Pinterest immediately caught my eye, and I decided to give it a try. The piecing went really smoothly and I had the top finished in no time (again… last year!). Then came the basting and quilting.
I wanted a sturdy fabric for the backing since this quilt was meant to hang on the wall, so I chose a thick tweed denim-like fabric. Big mistake.
To keep it short: quilting it was an absolute nightmare. Sliding that heavy backing through the sewing machine was exhausting, and I promised myself I would only use proper quilting cottons from now on — unless it’s a very small project.
Still, after all the trouble, I really love how it turned out. Hopefully this week my husband will finally have time to hang it on the wall!
