Farmer’s Wife Quilt week 15: Postage Stamp & Spool quilt blocks

It’s time for another Monday and another pair of Farmer’s Wife quilt blocks!

This week I worked on no. 68 Postage Stamp and no. 84 Spool, both made using foundation paper piecing and my favorite soft Lecien fabrics.

For this week’s Farmer’s Wife Quilt Along, these two blocks offered very different sewing experiences.

Farmer’s Wife Quilt Blocks: Postage Stamp & Spool

no. 68 Postage Stamp

The Postage Stamp quilt block turned out to be surprisingly easy to assemble with foundation paper piecing, especially considering the number of small sections involved.

Of course, despite how straightforward it was, I still managed to make a tiny mistake somewhere in the block. Can you spot it?

no. 84 Spool

The Spool quilt block was the exact opposite kind of sewing experience: quick, simple, and extremely beginner-friendly.

It comes together very fast and is a perfect introduction to foundation paper piecing for anyone wanting to practice precision piecing without getting overwhelmed.

I really enjoy these kinds of blocks because they remind me that quilting can be both relaxing and rewarding at the same time.

Here is how the blocks turned out:
