Square quilts, Three, WIP

Square Quilts Are Now Numbered

I tried to commit myself to making a certain number of square quilts each month. Well… (jajaja) you already know how that goes when there’s a baby involved.

I honestly believed I could keep up with that kind of schedule. Apparently not.

So instead of actual finished quilts, I currently have several quilt tops waiting patiently to become real quilts. And somehow I also never found the time to even write a proper blog post about them.

Enough complaining though. These are my most recent square quilt tops.

Oh — and one more thing: I decided to stop naming these quilts and simply start numbering them instead. Let’s see where that takes me.

Experiment no. 98: randomly choosing fabrics that somehow work together.

Result: SUCCESS.

For this quilt I combined:

  • Navy solid cotton
  • Several Sarah Jane prints
  • A Riley Blake fox print (whose designer I sadly cannot remember!)
  • Lecien polka dots
  • A lovely deer print

I originally had a more “girly” quilt in mind — even though I personally dislike assigning colors to genders. Still, customers definitely seem to love softer and more feminine palettes.

Ok. I will openly admit it: I absolutely adore the Print Shop fabric line.

This is officially my all-time favorite collection. And yes — I believe Alexia Marcelle Abegg is a total genius. (High five to everyone who agrees!)

Naturally, I ended up buying far more fabric from this collection than I actually needed. So in an attempt to finally “get over it,” I decided to cut into everything and make a couple of square quilts.

So far I have managed to piece one quilt top… and now it hangs beside me while I simply stare at it all day long.

That’s it. I said it.

This quilt smells like summer.

Summer by the sea. Sand. Saltwater. And definitely sunscreen.

It is made almost entirely from charm packs from different collections:

  • Seaside by October Afternoon
  • Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket
  • Botany by Lauren and Jessi Jung
  • Several Bella solid charms

And in case you were wondering, here are a couple of previous square quilts I made: 1 and 2.

Some statistics, just to keep up with tradition. Have a great day!
