Lifesaver quilt, the Cotton + Steel version

It has been almost a year since I finished this quilt, and we have been using it every single day since then. Out of all the versions of the Lifesaver Quilt that I have made so far, this one remains my absolute favorite.

This quilt was made especially for my son, and seeing him use and love it every day honestly makes all those hours of quilting worth it ❤️.

Quilt Process

For this version of the pattern, I decided to make a small alteration and added one extra row of Lifesaver blocks. The adjustment was incredibly easy to make while still following the original pattern structure.

The final size now fits perfectly on my son's twin bed, making it ideal for everyday use.

Machine Quilting

I have completely fallen in love with quilting using a simple 1-inch grid. There is something modern, clean and timeless about it, and it works beautifully with geometric quilt designs like this one.

The texture after washing becomes even softer and puffier, which is exactly how I love my quilts to feel.

Pattern Used

The Lifesaver Quilt is based on the classic Bowtie quilt block, combined with a secondary block layout that creates the final quilt design.

When designing this quilt, I wanted to create something that could become visually recognizable as part of my own design style. The small 16-patch block became that “signature” detail and honestly, I still love it just as much today.
