Farmer’s Wife QAL week 10: Bat Wing & Farmer’s Daughter quilt blocks

This weekend was not very productive on the quilting side—apart from completing a custom order—but my social life definitely made up for it. After a busy and slightly tiring few days, I’m planning to slow down a bit, maybe spend some time organizing my scrap bins, and ease back into sewing.

Still, I managed to complete this week’s Farmer’s Wife Quilt Along blocks, and I have to say—I really enjoyed these two.

For this week, I worked on no. 5 Bat Wing and no. 32 Farmer’s Daughter, using foundation paper piecing and my favorite Lecien fabrics.

Farmer’s Wife Quilt Blocks: Bat Wing & Farmer’s Daughter

The Bat Wing quilt block is a lovely geometric design that comes together quite smoothly with paper piecing. It’s one of those blocks that looks more complex than it actually is, which always makes the process more enjoyable.

But I have to admit—no. 32 Farmer’s Daughter might be one of my favorite blocks so far. There’s something about the balance and symmetry of this design that makes it really satisfying to sew and to look at.

These kinds of weeks remind me that even when time is limited, completing a couple of blocks still feels like progress.

Here is how the blocks turned out:
